This tool was developed by participants in the Family Engagement in Research (FER) course in 2024 by Monique Seymour, Melo Kalemkeridis, Simone Martin, Dalal Dawood Baumgartner, and Alana Anne Jovanovski.
Simplifying research ethics is a short video designed to help demystify the ethics statement of NHMRC to as broad an audience as possible. It covers basic information about ethics approval and ethical principles, including:
– doing no harm (Non-maleficence)
– justice – fairness, equity, access (visual, culturally, linguistically, audio)
– beneficence (do good, promote wellbeing, benefit population/society/individuals)
– autonomy – consent, right to make own decisions
– integrety (transparency, honesty)
