This section provides the detailed reports that explain the processes and sources of information that informed the development of the Framework. The documents in this section are ordered from the most recently completed work.
Three reviews of the literature were completed to bring together the best evidence about effective practice in early intervention: a narrative review; a scoping review and comparison of several ECI frameworks; and a systematic review of interventions and approaches. This report contains a summary of outcomes from ACD’s follow up consultations with families. This phase focused on identifying how best to let families and carers know about the upcoming Framework. These engagements were also used to test and refine draft information resources intended for families.

The first two webinars were held through the development of the National Best Practice Framework for ECI. These webinars provides updates to the community on the processes and outcomes of the review of best practice in ECI. The final webinar was held after the launch of the Framework in October 2025 to provide insight into how it was developed.
