A team at the University of Melbourne are seeking adults with cerebral palsy, aged 25 to 65, who could walk independently for at least 5 metres during their adolescence (12 to 18 years), with or without mobility aids. Participants must currently be able to walk or transfer between positions independently, with or without aids, but without assistance from another person.

They recognise that you are often asked to complete surveys. If you complete this survey, they will enter you into a draw to win a $100 gift card.

Have a coffee on us. Dad-Care: Support for dads, by dads. Are you a dad of a young child with disability or a complex medical condition? As dads, raising our children with challenges, we "get it" in ways only a person living it can. We would love to have a chat with you, listen to what you're going through, and pass on some of our tips so you don't have to work it out all on your own. Scan the QR code for more information or call or SMS us on 0448 677 600, and we will get back to you.

Dad-Care: support for dads, by dads. We all know the importance of physical and mental health and wellbeing, but increased social wellbeing can also be beneficial to us, our families, and our child's development. Finding the right social and systemic supports can be tough, which is what we're aiming to help you with in a series of (up to 3) online or phone conversations (don't worry, we'll work out a way to get a coffee to you to enjoy on us!) In these conversations, you might like to talk to us about how you are going navigating diagnoses, health and support services, funding, family dynamics, and your own health and wellbeing. In the meantime, this can be quite an emotional and challenging time for dads, partners, and family members, and it can be helpful to see your GP or reach out to organisations such as Carer Gateway (1800 422 737) or Advocating for Children with a Disability (ACD) (03 9880 7000 or 1800 654 013 regional). Let's have a chat. Dad-Care is a fully-funded program and there is no cost to you. The program will be evaluated and we will discuss with you what this involves.

Are you parenting a 5-18 year old? Does your child have experience living with a disability or life-limiting condition?

You may be eligible to participate in our research study.

What is the research about?

We would like to speak to a range of people who are parenting and their adolescents about their thoughts on a general health questionnaire. The questionnaire might be used in research or clinical health settings and asks children (or their parents) to report on general difficulties with their: ‘mobility’; ‘looking after myself’; ‘doing usual activities’; ‘pain/discomfort’; and ‘feeling worried, sad or unhappy’. We are interested in ways we might improve this questionnaire to better meet the needs of children and young people who are living with life-limiting conditions or disability. The interviews would go for 45 minutes to 1 hour. You will be reimbursed for your time.

How to get started?

Please complete a short survey to express interest in participating in the study here.

We will only be selecting a small number of participants, and we aim to reach people with a range of different experiences. We may not contact everyone who completes the expression of interest survey.
