Grand Rounds 2025

Share Post:

We were privileged to welcome Hannah McPierzie at the Royal Children’s Hospital Grand Rounds on the 3rd of December 2025, to celebrate and honour International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD).

Hannah is a disability rights advocate, harnessing her experience from her personal journey and as a teacher of children with disability.

In her presentation, Hannah shared her personal journey following her diagnosis with a rare neurological condition, Neurofibromatosis Type 2, leading to deaf blindness. Through her story, Hannah provided important insights into systems and processes which overlook individuals with alternative communication needs, as well as providing practical suggestions on how to improve them.

Hannah’s presentation contributed strongly to the IDPwD theme of fostering disability-inclusive societies for advancing social progress by building awareness of the barriers in the health services system which disables people with alternative communication needs. Hannah called for co-design in health service delivery to ensure equity for people with a disability.
