Grant success for Prof Nathan Grills and Dr Elise Davis

Share Post:

Congratulations to Professor Nathan Grills and Dr Elise Davis who have been awarded funding by Melbourne Disability Institute as part of their Interdisciplinary Disability Research Seed Funding program. This exciting new project is called: Caring Together: Co-designing and piloting an intervention to support the inclusion and wellbeing of fathers of children with a disability

This research is focused on supporting inclusion and wellbeing of fathers of children with a disability.  This project, led by Prof Nathan Grills, Dr Elise Davis, Prof Christine Imms and Ben IIsley includes a team of fathers, researchers, clinicians and service providers. This research builds on the DAD-CARE study, which demonstrated that fathers of children and young people with a disability are isolated and disconnected and are seeking opportunities for peer support and mentoring.   The aim of the project is to co-design and pilot an intervention to promote inclusion and health and wellbeing of fathers (focusing on culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) families), strengthen their relationships with their family, and contribute to improved outcomes for the child.
