Congratulations Rohan!
Churchill Fellowships are offered to Australians from all walks of life, giving them an opportunity to travel overseas to explore a field of interest and share the findings with the Australian community.
Rohan Symonds is a passionate advocate deserving of a 2022 Churchill Fellowship for his work combining disability research with the lived experience of disabilities. Among other roles Rohan works in the young adult Advisory Group for CP-Achieve and at Latrobe Youth Space as a Member of their Youth Programs Committee and Board. His work helps guide mainstream research in addressing social inequities of young adults living with Cerebral Palsy.
Rohan is interested in social work, governance and transparency, and his fellowship aims, “To measure the effects of Project Team in America – learnings for Australia’s implementation”. Project Team is an American project designed to support youth with disabilities as they identify their barriers and find solutions. To date there is minimal research into the ability for service providers to provide this program, however Rohan is hopeful his evidence based research will provide support for this program to be adapted and implemented for Australians.
Healthy Trajectories is proud to have Rohan on our Young Peoples Consumer Council!
The Healthy Trajectories Child and Youth Disability Research Hub acknowledges the Traditional Owners of Country throughout Australia and recognises the continuing connection to the lands and waterways on which we live, learn and work. We pay our respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, and to Elders past, present and emerging.
